The Commercial Education Society of Australia (CESA)
PCA has been affiliated with CESA for almost 100 years. CESA served as Australia's original independent examinations board for the business secretarial profession. Before the establishment of VETAB, exams were written and marked by CESA for use in business colleges across Australia. National Competitions in Typing (WPM) and Pitman's Shorthand were also conducted. Today, CESA has revitalised itself by now offering a new suite of programmes in the study of professional practice, as well as graded membership (Incl. Associate, Licentiate, and Fellow by Dissertation).
PCA Students are given annual lectures by CESA in Entrepreneurship and Professional Prestige, sit an assessment to receive the Certificate of Professional Practice (CPP) and are then awarded Membership of the Society (MCES). This is an activity of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and adds value to students' CVs. The Sister Cleophas Shield is also sponsored by CESA for Typing - (Most Words Per Minute). Members and Fellows of CESA also volunteer their time to provide mentoring and advice (through the PCA Industry Advisory Committee) to PCA students and staff. PCA is an Assessment Centre and Corporate Member of CESA.
